What to Pack
As Miami University students we have the inside scoop when it comes to what you should bring with you on your adventure to Kings Island! We have different suggestions based on which season.
Our Go-To List:
- Comfortable shoes are key for the long amount of time you’re going to spend at the park. Make sure they are close-toed since most rides will now allow sandals.
- Bring snacks/grab and go lunches to leave in your car. Food can be purchased at the park, however this is an easy way to save money.
- Bring reusable water bottles and leave extra water bottles in your car because of the amount of activity you will be doing and the fluctuating weather.
- Ensure that you have a portable phone charger so that your phone is usable throughout the entire day.
- Make sure that you have a credit/debit card of some sort, Kings Island is a cashless park!
Winter
Rides are closed during the winter! However, the park is open for WinterFest. WinterFest at Kings Island is a special seasonal event where the amusement park transforms into a winter wonderland.
→ It might be beneficial to have a blanket if you are planning to sit and watch a lot of the shows and parades.
Spring
Due to the fluctuating weather make sure you dress in layers so that you are comfortable throughout the whole day, including a rain jacket or poncho of some sort that you can pack in your bag.
Summer
Sunscreen is the most important! If you are planning on staying a long time, leave a light jacket in the car in case it cools down in the evening.
→ We suggest going during the week to avoid large crowds and long waits.
Fall
Fall is the haunting season so you better be ready to scream! The fully transformed amusement park features bone-chilling scare mazes and scare zones, sinister live entertainment, and hundreds of terrifying creatures lurking in the fog and hiding in every corner of the park waiting for you. (Halloween Haunting starts at 8 pm!)
→ Be prepared to designate a lot of time to be at the park, haunt nights can be crowded, and there may be lines for attractions.
