Fun Facts

There are a large variety of birds that pass through Hueston Woods. Some of the most common are Tree Swallow, Barn Swallow, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, and Bonaparte’s Gull.

Permanent residents at The Hueston Woods State Park Nature Center include a Bald Eagle, a Golden Eagle, a Rough-legged Hawk, several Red-tailed Hawks, Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, and Turkey Vultures.

Some additional wildlife you may come across are Osprey, Foxes, Ring-billed Gulls, Woodpeckers, Canada Geese, Blue Herons, Mallard Ducks, Aquatic Turtles, Mink, Non-venomous snakes, and Squirrels.
