Romeo & Juliet, Today

**Panel 1**

Verona High School 

* A high school hallway. Robert, a tall, handsome boy with dark hair and blue eyes, is walking down the hall. He is wearing a black leather jacket and jeans.

* Julie, a beautiful girl with long, blonde hair and blue eyes, is walking towards him. She is wearing a red dress and heels.

* The two meet in front of Julie’s locker as she is gathering her books.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert:  Hi, what’s your name?

* Julie: I’m Julie, what’s your’s?

* Robert: Robert.

**Panel 2**

* Robert and Julie smile at each other. They are instantly attracted to each other.

* Robert and Julie start talking as they walk down the hall, and they find out that they have a lot in common.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: What’s a pretty girl like you doin’ in a school like this? I’ve never seen you around here before.

* Julie: I’m new. I just moved here.

* Robert: Did you have to move far?

* Julie: Not very far.

* Robert: So, what do you like to do for fun?

* Julie: I was thinking I would go to the carnival this weekend.

* Robert: What do you say to me coming along for the ride?

**Panel 3**

* Robert and Julie spend the rest of the day together. They talk, they laugh, and they dance. They fall in love. Robert drops Julie off at her house.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: I had a really great time today.

* Julie: Me too,I’d like to see you again sometime.

* Robert: I’d like that too.

**Panel 4**

* Robert and Julie start going steady. The two belonged to feuding social groups, so they would meet in secret at the movies, the park, and even the library. If they were ever caught a fight would break out, and people would get hurt.

The Confession

**Dialogue:**

* Julie: I don’t care what my friends and family think, I love you.

* Robert: I love you too, doesn’t matter what everyone else says.

**Panel 5**

* Robert and Julie’s friends find out about their relationship. They are furious. They do everything they can to keep Robert and Julie from seeing each other again. Robert found himself under constant watch from his friends and family, and Julie found that she was only ever by herself when she was at home.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert’s Friend: You need to stay away from the rich broad. She’ll be nothing but trouble.

* Julie’s Brother: Watch what you say greaser! Julie, if you want to go out with someone, you should pick someone from church!

**Panel 6**

* Robert and Julie are heartbroken. They don’t know what to do. They both sneak away to the park and decide to run away together.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: Let’s run away together.

* Julie: Where would we go?

* Robert: Anywhere, wherever you want.

* Julie: Let’s go to Mantua.

**Panel 7**

* The two return home to pack what they need, and meet back up at the park. Together they climb onto Robert’s motorcycle and ride off to a nearby motel to hide out before starting their long trip in the morning.

**Dialogue:**

* Julie: I’m so happy we can finally be together.

* Robert: Me too.

**Panel 8**

* Robert and Julie’s friends find them, and they are furious. They try to separate them, but Robert and Julie refuse to give up on each other.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert’s Friend: You can’t be with soc! They’re stuck-up rich snobs!

* Julie’s Brother: He’s a greaser! They’re no good dirty thieves! A Soc would be better!

* Robert’s Friend: You asking for a rumble Soc?!

The Conflict

**Panel 9**

* The Greasers and Socs start throwing insults at each other. Soon fists are up and a fight has broken out, with no clear understanding of who threw the first punch. During the fighting, the Greasers and Socs have begun to pick up or pull out weapons to get an edge over each other. Amidst the confusion, Robert is stabbed with a broken bottle picked up off the sidewalk while trying to break up the fight.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: *groan sfx*

* Julie: Robert!

**Panel 10**

* The fight comes to a sudden halt at Julie’s outburst and sudden appearance amidst the fighting. Robert’s friend rushes over to help hold his friend up, while another rushes into the motel to call an ambulance.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: I’ll be fine doll face, I’ll see you at the hospital.

**Panel 11**

* At the hospital the doctors cleaned and stitched Roobert’s wound, with the largest worry being infection. Afterwards he got regular visits from his friends, family, and Julie. He and Julie would often discuss what they would do once he was released from the hospital.

**Dialogue:**

* Robert: As soon as I get out of here, let’s head to Mantua.

*Julie: That sounds good.

The Death

**Panel 12**

* The next day there are complications with Robert’s recovery, and an infection in the wound resulting in necrosis. Within a few hours Robert was dead due to organ failure.

**Dialogue:**

* Julie: How is he? Is he going to be ok?

* Doctor: I’m sorry, the infection was too aggressive. We did everything we could. I’m going to go let his family know.

**Panel 13**

* Julie is devastated at the loss of Robert. After his funeral she stands in front of his grave to tell him how much she misses him, and that she can’t live without him.

**Dialogue:**

* Julie: Robert, I miss you. I can’t stay here without you, so I’ll see you soon.

**Panel 14**

* Julie overdoses on her antidepressants. Her body is found at Robert’s grave by his family when they visit later that day

**Dialogue:**

* Robert’s father: Oh no, that’s Julie.

* Robert’s Mother: We need to call an ambulance!

**Panel 15**

* Robert and Julie are buried together. Their love story is remembered as a tragedy that could have been prevented. (image panel focus on grave stone with Robert and Julie’s names)
